JAPAN GALLERY: Osaka cherry blossom fever

Each spring, the Japan Mint in Osaka opens up its premises along the Yodo Riverside Lane for one week for the public to view its abundance of cherry blossom (Sakura).

The 560m strip becomes a burst of pink and petals as around 350 trees of about 120 varieties come into bloom.

The annual event, first held in 1883, is an important part of the city’s annual calendar with thousands of people flocking to see the flowers and celebrate the change of seasons.
